Position Summary:
In keeping with the Marian Medical Center health care philosophy, the Registered Nurse manages quality patient care through the nursing process. Coordinates plan of care with the health care team. Assumes leadership role for unit personnel to prepare and assist them with their responsibilities. Employees are responsible for completion of unit competency assessments, annual safety review, CPR, and renewal of license by maintaining continuing education units as required by hospital policy. Employees must successfully pass clinical math exam prior to orientation to unit. In addition to these major responsibilities, the Registered Nurse may be assigned other duties.

CA RN License
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Must have the ability to read, write and speak English, and an understanding of numerical systems.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret hospital policies and procedures, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and procedures and document in the medical record. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from co-workers, managers, patients, physicians, family members and the general public. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as weights, dosages, flow rates, proportions, percentages and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Must have ability to critically think and problem solve. Must have the ability to read, write and speak English.
Current license to practice Registered Nursing in the State of California. Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ACLS), and National Institutes of Health Stoke Scale (NIHSS). Pediatric Advanced Life support (PALS) required withing 90 days of hire (not required for travelers). New Grad RNs must complete the additional certification (ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS) for this position within 18 weeks of hire. CPI class will be completed within 90 days of hire and annually thereafter.

Position Summary: Assesses patient/family health problems and resources, takes a leadership role in the development, implementation and outcomes evaluation of a plan for nursing care provided by the nursing team. Provides technical nursing care and interventions to designated patient populations. This position requires providing service to a one or more age populations including an ill neonate through geriatric patient population in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values.
