MSJMC Level 3 NICU is expanding! We are moving into a brand new 40-bed unit in the Fall of 2020. Our new unit will feature sixteen (16) private rooms and eight (8) 3-bed pods, all bed spaces include a sleep chair where a parent can stay 24/7. In our current 26-bed department we use state-of-the-art Giraffe Omni beds, Babylog VN500 vents and HFOVs to care for infants with birth weights as low as 450 grams. The unit has the capability of providing whole body cooling for infants suffering from HIE, and we offer Nitric Oxide for care of PPHN in extremely sick newborns.

Position Summary:
The incumbent is a member of the healthcare team who is accountable for patient care supportive services for the Family Birth Center under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. May access medication storage areas in accordance with their job function and hospital policy.
The Perinatal Technician is a member of the care team, who under the direction and/or supervision of the charge RN performs a variety of tasks and activities to meet patient and department needs. The perinatal technician must manage multiple demands on their time to support the activity of the unit, scrub for surgeries, set up and assist with procedures, perform basic nursing care, and a variety of clerical duties. They must consistently show initiative and flexibility to accomplish assigned workload, and demonstrate the ability to prioritize assignments according to patient and unit needs.
Methodist Hospital, a member of Dignity Health, is currently looking for a Perinatal Technician to join their hospital staff. The Perinatal Technician is a member of the healthcare team who is accountable for patient care supportive services for the Family Birth Center under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Requirements:

At least 1+ year experience as an OR/OB Scrub/Perinatal Technician.
- Must also be competent with the computerized documentation system.
- Must be CPR Certified and have a BLS from the American Heart Association.

The Pharmacist interprets, screens and fills prescriptions in accordance with federal and state regulations. The Pharmacist provides consultation and drug information to patients and other health care providers. Staff pharmacists supervise and direct support personnel working directly under them.
This position is responsible for all medications dispensed to the patient during their shift. In the absence of the Pharmacy Manger, a staff pharmacist may be required to assume the essential responsibilities and perform the duties of the pharmacy manager at Atlantic Professional Pharmacy and/or Medical Mall Pharmacy for St. Mary Medical Center.
Job Summary: Under direct supervision the incumbent provides drug information and assists physician in providing appropriate drug therapy for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Incumbent compounds, prepares, mixes, manufactures and dispenses medicines and preparations. Incumbent also oversees medications prepared by Pharmacy Technicians. This position reports to the Director Pharmacy. Principle Duties and Accountabilities:
- Prepares and verifies all extemporaneously compounded medications and all other medications to be dispensed accurately, efficiently and properly labeled in a timely manner. Provides patient counseling when necessary.
- Reviews all prescribed medication orders and the patients profile for completeness and appropriateness (with respect to disease state, dosing, route of administration, drug compatibility's, interactions, contraindications, safe and acceptable prescribing methods consistent with hospital policy etc.). Takes an active role in notifying prescriber of problems or recommendations. Makes certain any noted problem is followed through to resolution.
- Reports Adverse Drug Reactions, medication errors and other events according to established guidelines and takes responsibility when an error occurs. Prepares DUE criteria, monitors fall out and prepares report on outcomes.
- Enters all medication orders into patient profiles including chemotherapy, TPN, NICU and other special processing orders efficiently, accurately,and safely, ensuring that they are completed to the point of delivery in a timely manner.
- Communicates effectively all information when necessary on patient care, medication, or other relevant issues to peers, nursing and medical staff that are affected.
- Directs technical staff and cooperates with peers efficiently and effectively, assisting when necessary. Assists with the preparation of evaluations of technical staff in a timely and constructive manner.
- Keeps accurate records of controlled substances issued, reconciling usage, and detecting and investigating possible diversion. Takes responsibility for resolving discrepancies.
- Demonstrates competency and initiates pharmacokinetic dosing upon physician request or when patient needs indicate such dosing is appropriate. Reviews and interprets laboratory results including but not limited to serum Creatinines, electrolytes, culture and sensitivity reports, INR and critical medication levels to make appropriate clinical recommendations.
- Participates in the patient care team and in patient care rounds, responding to nursing, patient and physician inquiries accurately, efficiently in a level appropriate response. Provides guidance on medication issues and education with the goals of increasing more favorable patient outcomes and reducing overall costs. Prepares lectures, written communications and newsletters as required.
- Prioritizes work assignments according to most critical needs (e.g.. patient needs first, critical time needs next). Completes assigned projects in a timely manner.
- Responds to and participates appropriately in code events.
- Assumes ultimate responsibility for maintaining adequate supplies in areas of pharmacy to ensure continued patient care and of the security of the department and implements appropriate measures during emergency situations and disasters.
