Position Summary:   The Activity Services Director is accountable for the development and implementation of activity programs to meet resident needs and interests. Other responsibilities include resident transportation, as well as the management of the wellness program and coordination of volunteers.   Core Duties and Accountabilities: - Develops and implements resident services policies and procedures. - Assists with resident orientations. - Interviews and has new residents fill out the Social Activities Questionnaire. - Meets with residents whose functions status is diminished to determine and develop appropriate means of addressing their social, emotional and spiritual needs. - Prepares and organizes a calendar of activities. Posts and distributes the activity calendar each month. - Prepares the monthly resident newsletter. - Keeps resident bulletins boards updated. - Coordinates and implements exercise programs in conjunction with the Resident Services Director. - In junction with the administration, assists residents in coordinating activities of the Residents' Council and its committee structure. - Schedules and drives community vehicles for resident transportation needs. - Supervises other staff who function as back-up drives for the community vehicles. - Supervises and coordinates volunteers who assist in activity programs. - Develops programs and services for those residents whose functional abilities no longer allows participation in existing activities and programs and thereby encourages those residents to remain independent as they age. - Participates in meetings with area agencies involved in senior adult programs and services. - Attends educational sessions designed to improve job knowledge and skills. - Assists in the lifestyle transitions that residents experience (i.e., moving, adjustments to physical limitation, loss of friends or relatives). - Performs other duties as necessary or directed.

Position Summary:   Under the direction of the Resident Services Manager, the Resident Care Aide performs resident care duties in accordance with the mission and philosophy of Mercy McMahon Terrace as well as its established policies and procedures.   This position is interchangeable with both housekeeping and food service positions. Persons holding any of these positions may be cross-trained for the other two.   Principle Duties and Accountabilities: - Receives report from previous shift and organizes shift assignments. - Admits, transfers and discharges residents. - Assists residents with: - Toileting and dressing activities (skin care, bathroom help, weights, etc.) - Bedmaking and tidying of unit - Eating, unit trays, nourishments - Answers emergency call signals. - Makes regular rounds for Plan B and Plan C residents. - Provides assistance to residents who regularly or intermittently need to go to the toilet at night. - Takes temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure vitals. - Monitors residents remaining in units for temporary illnesses such as a cold, flu, etc. Sees that these residents have trays delivered to them for each meal. - Observes, reports, documents any changes noted with resident to Resident Services Manager and/or Director or LVN on duty. - Assists community agencies such as hospice/home care in providing care to residents. - Charts in individual Resident Care Chart when appropriate. Completes incidents report when applicable. - Informs manager of charges for any medical supplies given to residents. - Cares for, cleans, replaces resident laundry and facility supplies, equipment, appliances, etc. - Assists relatives, visitors and guests in directing requests or concerns to appropriate person/ - Attends training sessions designed to improve skills or job knowledge. - Performs other duties as necessary or directed.
