Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse is responsible for supporting the Nurse Manager of the unit to manage and coordinate clinical operations in order to provide quality direct patient care to the pediatric to geriatric population. Will ensure all aspects of documentation, care planning and patient care delivery to meet regulatory requirements.
The qualified candidate is expected but is not limited to:
- Perform duties in alignment with the mission and policies of the organization and will be in support of and in compliance with the performance improvement plan, The Joint Commission and other licensing, accrediting and regulatory agencies.
- Fostering a positive interactive team milieu
- Facilitates optimal environment to support orientation, competency validation

JOB SUMMARY
The Staff Nurse II is responsible for direct and indirect delivery of patient care for a wide variety of patient populations through the use of the nursing process and maintenance of the standards of professional nursing practice. The Registered Nurse promotes compliance and support of policies and achieves trust in professional collegial relationships.
REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in critical care setting strongly preferred, but combination of education, other experience and specialty training may be considered.
- Must have a valid California RN license, BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA-approved). Basic computer skills.
- One year acute care nursing experience preferred. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Advanced EKG Interpretation, 12 lead EKG Interpretation preferred. CCRN preferred. CareConnect MAR experience preferred.
- Experience with electronic medical record preferred. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of patients or employees.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

In keeping with the Marian Medical Center health care philosophy, the Registered Nurse manages quality patient care through the nursing process. Coordinates plan of care with the health care team. Assumes leadership role for unit personnel to prepare and assist them with their responsibilities. Employees are responsible for completion of unit competency assessments, annual safety review, CPR, and renewal of license by maintaining continuing education units as required by hospital policy. Employees must successfully pass clinical math exam prior to orientation to unit. In addition to these major responsibilities, the Registered Nurse may be assigned other duties.
