REGISTERED NURSE, Per Diem – PEDIATRIC ACUTENorthridge Hospital Medical Center The PEDIATRICS unit at Northridge Hospital Medical Center is actively seeking individuals who demonstrate patient care excellence. We are seeking Registered Nurse (RN) for the PEDIATRICS unit to coordinate, supervise and implement patient care based on competence, professional expertise, knowledge and evidence-based practice. The Registered Nurse is expected to practice autonomously, consistent with professional standards, Nurse Practice Act and hospital job description specific to the unit. This position is critical to the success of Northridge Medical Center and requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission and organizational values of the Dignity Health system. In addition, Dignity Health has made the conscious decision to implement solutions that will improve patient care outcomes and nursing competencies. As a result, all RN candidates considered for this position will be required to take a series of assessments during our application and interviewing process that include a basic math assessment and a thorough behavioral-based questionnaire in addition to providing up to three professional references and a copy of your most recent performance evaluation.

SUMMARY - Provide managerial oversight of managed care incentives programs (e.g., quality/HEDIS/PCMH) to maximize incentive capture. Coordinate with medical directors, regional directors, and clinical pharmacist within incentive programs. Serve as a liaison to hospital case mgmt. to facilitate care coordination post- acute to the transitional care clinic. Identify gaps in care via data mining EHR and facilitate patient appointments and appropriate follow-up (mammo, HTN/DM, etc). PCMH oversight. Manage Monthly PCMH meetings. ACN liaison & contact for navigator to prevent attribution loss. Must possess significant knowledge of quality metrics: Ambulatory, Acute Care, PCMH, ACN, and payor population health incentives.
The registered nurse is responsible to take primary responsibility to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the nursing care of each assigned patient. Provide direct patient care. Supervise the activities of nursing staff members. Anticipate patients needs. Follow-up on all care related activities and assure all physician orders are accurately transcribed and carried out in a timely manner. Coordinate the plan of care. Conduct patient teaching specific to disease entity and home management. Actively participate in assuring care continuum. Collaborate with other nursing and ancillary services to assure seamless communication and uninterrupted patient care. Model leadership behaviors. Foster a spirit of collaboration and teamwork. Mentor peers and colleagues.
About the Position
In keeping with Marian Medical Center health care philosophy, the PreOp/PACU Nurse is an experienced practitioner who demonstrates in-depth knowledge of nursing and patient care, and has the ability to practice independently at MRMC and applicable entities. The PreOp/PACU Nurse also serves as a resource person as well as a preceptor. Under minimal supervision, the PreOp/PACU Nurse identifies and implements nursing interventions for patients and evaluates the results of these interventions for a given patient population. Supports and promotes the provision of quality patient care.
Selection Criteria
- One (1) year PACU nursing experiance.
- One (1) year specialty experience required.
- Acute care experiance within the last two (2) years required.
- Current or previous Ambulatory Surgery Center experience preferred.
- Critical care experiance preferred.
- Graduate from accredited school of nursing with a current California Registered Nurse license and CPR certification.
- PALS required within 6 months of hire
- BSN preferred.
- Demonstrates proficient intermediate nursing skills and specialty skills.
- Demonstrates a caring, compassionate attitude toward others.
- Demonstrates ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently.
- Demonstrates clear, effective written and oral English skills, and objective active-listening skills.
- Reacts calmly and efficiently in emergencies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with others across all departments.
- Working knowledge of principles and practice of nursing standards.
- Ability to maintain effective working relations with hospital departments, medical staff, and co-workers, and negotiate conflict resolution.
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly in both verbal and written form and to gather data, read, comprehend, interpret and apply pertinent principles, regulations and standards.
- Current California Registered Nurse license and BLS, ACLS certification.
