An oncology nursing position in an outpatient oncology office, assisting  an oncologist in the day-to-day care of the patients in the office. The position involves direct patient interaction by phone and assisting with office visits, as well as coordination of the care of chemotherapy patients, including chemotherapy education and symptom management.  Although this position does not include administration of chemotherapy, the nurses will work very closely with the nearby chemotherapy nurses. This is a unique opportunity to work side by side with an MD, helping them care for the patients and developing very meaningful and long term relationships with many of the patients. It is a very warm, tight-knit office, and many of the staff have been there for years.  Both physicians in the office are very  involved with their patients and committed to their work. Some oncology experience is required, and an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) is preferred. Position Summary: Under general supervision, the RN-Medical Oncology performs a wide range of duties and tasks related to the care and treatment of cancer patients. The RN-Medical Oncology is responsible for knowing his/her professional scope of practice as defined by the California Business and Professional Code and must maintain applicable and current licensing.
