Job Summary:
Provides optimum respiratory care for all patients. Works under the direct supervision of a hospital appointed medical director and with the direct orders of the attending physician. - Performs assessment of patient’s health and continuously monitors; detect changes in symptoms, and take action as necessary; and quickly and accurately assess patient care needs
- Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol
- Administers therapy modalities which include, Handheld Nebulize (HHN), HHN via metered close inhaler (HHN/MDI), Intrapulmonary Percussive Ventilation (IPV), Chesty Physical Therapy (CPT), and Pentamidine therapy
- Administers medical gas therapy including oxygen and Helium-Oxygen Therapy (He02)
- Performs ventilation therapies, including maintenance and management of life support systems
- Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms
- Maintains order, stock, and cleanliness of all areas in the department
- Practices safe work habits, compliance with safety rules and regulations, and adheres to safety policies

When all requirements regarding competency and experience have been met, the individual would be eligible for reclassification as a Respiratory Therapist III.

- Successful completion of accredited school of respiratory therapy and associated clinical rotations required.
- Associate of Science degree required
- Must possess a valid State of California License or Permit Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP certification required.
