The Ivy Brain Tumor Center is currently recruiting highly motivated and driven research technician, (B.S. or M.S.) to join our animal modeling team focusing on cutting edge Phase 0/II clinical trials for glioblastoma at BNI. Candidates with at least 2-4 years of experience in preclinical studies are desirable. Prior experience in conducting drug treatment studies and knowledge of signal transduction pathways is preferred.   The Ivy Brain Tumor Center is a non-conventional, non-profit program offering state-of-the-art clinical trials for patients with most aggressive form of brain cancer. It is home to the largest collection of Phase 0 trials for brain tumor in the world. Our trials select patients with specific genetic signatures to receive a matched experimental treatment regimen prior to their scheduled brain tumor operation.   Principal duties and responsibilities: - In vivo preclinical studies. - In vitro cell culture: The technician will culture primary tumor cells. In addition the candidate will perform in vitro cell based assays (e.g., cell titer glo, Tunel assay, etc). - Maintain the animal colonies - Molecular biology and biochemistry experiments: DNA/RNA isolation, PCR and qPCR, protein isolation, western blot analysis, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry studies.   Required Qualifications: - Able to critically review information and understand new concepts with minimal assistance. - Basic math, quantitative and analytical skills necessary - Strong organization skills - Applicants should have at least a Bachelor’s degree or M.S. in biological sciences with research experience in preclinical work. - A background in neuroscience or oncology is desirable but not required. - Attention to detail and strong verbal and communication skills. - Knowledge of MS Office.   Additional requirements: Three letters of recommendation.

Under the direct supervision of the Respiratory Care Coordinator, Respiratory Care Supervisor, Director or Physician, the RCP Casual II must demonstrate in-depth knowledge in all modes of respiratory therapy, from perinatal/pediatrics to adult critical care, as well as other acute care areas. Must demonstrate good interpersonal and customer service skills along with basic time management skills. Advancement will follow the Respiratory Clinical Ladder guidelines. Advanced practitioner level experience and ability to perform independently in the NICU and Adult ICU's preferred. Some experience in the use of computers preferred. BS Degree preferred. Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, support staff, patients and family members. Must demonstrate good communications skills by the ability to handle conflicts in a professional manner, seeking assistance when necessary, by using established line of communication for problem solving and conflict resolution while maintaining the self-esteem of others. Must have good mental skills and the ability to understand and perform required procedures, adapt and improvise known procedures to unusual or non-routine requirements as needed to insure proper diagnosis and treatment in accordance with policy and procedures of the department. Must maintain accurate and complete records and reports. Must have the ability to read, write and speak English. Ability to compile statistics, process simple math equations and formulas preferred. Must possess a valid California RCP license.  Must have a current BLS.  Must have passed the Registered Respiratory Therapist examination and clinical simulation through the NBRC. ACLS, PALS, and NRP preferred. Specialty certifications through the NBRC (NPS, CPFT) preferred.
