Position Summary: Improves the quality and effectiveness of a region's overall health care program by providing leadership, coordinating and facilitating the evaluation and improvement of a wide range of programs. Collaborates with hospital and ambulatory clinic leadership at the regional level to develop effective plans. Supports system level initiatives such as major capitol projects and joint ventures. Principal Duties and Accountabilities: - Creates the regional clinical strategy for use of technology and optimizes the use of existing clinical systems across a designated region of 3- 6 facilities and associated ambulatory clinics. Provides strategic leadership for the professional advancement and development of all informatics staff. Serves as a expert consult to facility, clinic, and regional senior leadership on the use of technology to meet the strategic and operational needs of the organization - Provides leadership and oversight for a comprehensive informatics program, with a primary focus on clinical practice, administration, and research in support of interdisciplinary, patient focused care. Leads clinical informatics plans, data analysis programs, creation of informatics policies and procedures and serves as a champion for complex clinical projects and systems. - Participates and oversees system design, test, implementation, documentation, validation, analysis, processes re-engineering, education, training, conversion, to ensure optimum success with ROI. Coordinates the collection and reporting of metrics defining benefits realization, and return on investment associated with Clinical Information Systems. Directs the analysis of ROI metrics post implementation. - Promotes an environment that supports the conduct and utilization of research in practice and a spirit of inquiry. Promotes innovative approaches to solving legacy problems, including notel technical and workflow approaches. Remains current of IT industry changes and federally mandated programs especially in in EHR related field. Acts as business sponsor for new change and is a role model for effective change management strategies. This position is a role model for use of innovation in healthcare and sets appropriate targets for professional development within their staff members.
