Position Summary:   The Post Acute Care (PAC) Transition Nurse is an integral part of the Population Health Care Coordination Team, responsible for managing length of stay within a PAC facility as well as appropriate transition through the continuum of care on assigned patients. The PAC Transition Nurse performs this role in such a manner as to meet the individual’s health needs while promoting quality and cost effective outcomes. The PAC Transition Nurse evaluates and identifies knowledge gaps of disease process and treatments, determines appropriate resources or services required to meet an individual's health needs, provides education/coaching on disease self-management for health promotion and maintenance, monitors patient's progress, promotes quality cost effective outcomes with the goal of improved care coordination amongst providers and increased involvement of the individual/family/caregiver in the decision making process to reduce hospitalizations, readmissions and ER visits.   We are seeking applications for Postdoctoral Fellow position in the Neurovascular/Neurotrauma Lab of Dr. Abdullah Ahmad at the Barrow Neurological Institute, Phoenix, AZ. Our lab is interested in understanding the role of neurovascular system in the pathophysiology of acute and chronic neurological conditions such as stroke, TBI, and Alzheimer disease. Special emphasis for the current position is on hemorrhagic stroke (subarachnoid hemorrhage and intracerebral hemorrhage). This position is funded by a 2-year grant. Qualification: Minimum required qualification is PhD in neuroscience, physiology, pharmacology, or a closely related field. Experience with pre-clinical model surgeries, handling, behavior, genotyping, histologic techniques, and physiology techniques are desirable. Experience in inducing SAH is desired and candidates with such experience will be given preference. Strong verbal and written communication in English is desired. Duties and responsibilities: The selected candidate will perform surgeries in pre-clinical models to induce SAH, treat pre-clinical models by giving intravenous or intraperitoneal injection, perform cryosectioning, immunohistochemistry, real-time PCR, Western-blots, Flow cytometry, imaging by using confocal microscopes. The new hire is also expected to perform post-op care and monitor and assess functional outcomes by using various behavioral setups used in our lab. This position will also perform sectioning, staining, and analysis. The postdoc will also be expected to perform data analysis, write and edit manuscripts, and present the findings at various national/international scientific conferences/ meetings. The postdoc will also actively participate in lab meetings and present latest data and provide feedback on other team members data/presentations. Duties also include mentoring trainee/volunteers (summer interns/undergraduate) as well as laboratory technicians. It is also required that he/she maintains accurate data records, complies with biohazard/radiation safety standards through proper handling of potentially hazardous chemical and biological agents. Work includes grant development and submission consistent with regulatory requirements and local policies. - Directs, organizes and plans the daily research operational activities of the program and support staff to manage and grow the divisions research activities. Serves as the primary liaison for internal and external project sponsors, routinely informing key stakeholders of project plans, status updates, milestones (including subject enrollment metrics, timely data collection and submission and related contract and/or grant goals) through regular reporting and coordinated discussions. - Manages program budget working synergistically with Research Administration to perform and coordinate transactional tasks; i.e., sponsor invoicing, patient financial billing, time and effort reporting, etc. Proactively manages supplies, staffing needs and research portfolio via forecasting reports to ensure a robust study pipeline is in place. Acts as the program fiscal steward and works to promote and grow the research portfolio thru public relations, web-based activities, newsletters and social media outlets. - A strong working knowledge of GCP, ICH, DHHS, OIG and FDA regulations and depth of scientific expertise in the assigned area is required along with familiarity of all applicable federal and state regulations and institutional policies. Coordinates the process flow of a study from initial concept to IRB through the final study closure. Facilitates feasibility reviews based upon governing policies.
