Position Summary:
This position plans, implements, and coordinates services and activities associated with the Stroke Center/Research Program. REGISTERED NURSE – PEDIATRIC ACUTENorthridge Hospital Medical Center The PEDIATRICS unit at Northridge Hospital Medical Center is actively seeking individuals who demonstrate patient care excellence. We are seeking Registered Nurses (RN) for the PEDIATRICS unit to coordinate, supervise and implement patient care based on competence, professional expertise, knowledge and evidence-based practice. The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients newborn to 13 years (ages 14 to 18 years must have unusual circumstance documented by MD) in accordance with individual needs, physician orders, Hospital policy and standards of nursing practice. The Registered Nurse is expected to practice autonomously, consistent with professional standards, Nurse Practice Act and hospital job description specific to the unit. This position is critical to the success of Northridge Medical Center and requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission and organizational values of the Dignity Health system. In addition, Dignity Health has made the conscious decision to implement solutions that will improve patient care outcomes and nursing competencies. As a result, all RN candidates considered for this position will be required to take a series of assessments during our application and interviewing process that include a basic math assessment and a thorough behavioral-based questionnaire in addition to providing up to three professional references and a copy of your most recent performance evaluation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Admits assigned patients to nursing floor, accurately records on assessment sheet, TPR, WT, HT, BP, O2 SAT, and completes orientation to call light and room within 20 minutes of patient arrival.
- Performs routine procedures such as vital signs, weights accurately, etc. based on standing orders or medical providers orders and records results on flow sheets or charts. Reports values out of normal parameters to charge nurse along with any change in patient condition.
- Documents intake and output accurately and gives results to the charge nurse one hour before the end of the shift. Completes daily documentation by the end of shift.
- Accurately identifies all patients prior to procedures or tests and collects all specimens as assigned by charge nurse following proper procedure for collection and labeling.
- Patient’s rooms are kept clean and orderly with garbage removed as needed, linen picked up and patient belongings kept in proper place. Patient rooms are kept supplied with towels, gloves, pads, depends etc. on a per shift basis. Completes and documents scheduled weekly cleaning.
- Patients are set up for meals, assisted with meals if needed, or fed meals if unable to feed self. Accurately documents percentage of meal eaten and records liquid intake amounts on specified patients. Snacks for patients are distributed.
- Call lights are answered promptly on all patients and any requests by patients are given to appropriate personnel.
- Willing to assist oncoming shift with patient daily needs especially in times of increased workload.
- Personal care (i.e. hair combed, oral cares, bath, back rubs etc.) are completed according to policy and reports any patient problems or changes to charge nurse. Assists patients with toileting issues and follows incontinence policy. Completes appropriate notification and documentation.
- Follows Fall Committee recommendations for patient alarms and bed safety. Assists with Restorative Care, Emergency Room, Lab and X-ray if available. Serves as a mentor for new nurse assistants.
Position Summary:
The Cath Lab Registered Nurse provides care to patients undergoing invasive, diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures under the direction of the Cardiology Nurse Manager. On-call responsibilities required. Electrophysiology excluded. The registered nurse employs critical thinking to integrate objective data with knowledge gained from an assessment of the subjective experiences of patients. Registered nurses use this critical thinking process to apply the best available evidence and research data to the processes of diagnosis and treatment. Nurses continually evaluate quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and seek to optimize outcomes. Medical/clinical knowledge, technical and clinical skills, clinical judgment, interpersonal skills and communication as indicated in the current Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for Hospitals are essential components of nursing practice. All registered nurses practice within the scopes and standards of practice set forth by the American Nurses Association.
