In collaboration with the physician/medical director, clinical responsibility for tasks performed within Nurse Practitioner's scope of practice. NP will work in an outpatient clinic at St. Francis Hospital Chemo/MS Infusion and Pain Center. The job will also entail seeing patients independently in the Pain and MS clinic as follow-up appointments after they have seen the physician. Order narcotics and other supportive care medications are ordered based on patient's needs. NP will be supervising both RN Infusion and Spine Procedures. NP is a critical member of the management and patient care team, serving as physician extenders by contributing essential skill sets and performing key roles to supervise chemotherapy administration and address chemotherapy/ multiple sclerosis scheduling, administer antibiotics, hydration and blood transfusions. Develop programs and train new staff nurses. NP will provide assistance with orders, adhering to authorization criteria, new starts, and oversight of schedule as well as pitching in to help when needed. This clinic also has a separate infusion center which takes care of patients with a diagnosis of cancer and multiple sclerosis, receiving infusion-based chemotherapy drugs. Review test results and consult with physicians as necessary prior to communicating with patients and their families. NP is expected to have experience infusing chemotherapy drugs.
