About this opportunity:
Under the direction of the Laboratory Medical Director, Laboratory Manager, and Laboratory Support Service Supervisor, this position is assigned the responsibility of various duties, which are technical and supportive in nature. These may include the basic duties, such as, blood specimen collection, specimen processing, answering telephones, computer data input/retrieval, and other duties as assigned. In addition to the above, the laboratory assistant may be assigned to perform, specimen preparatory handling in Microbiology, processing of specimens for reference laboratories, and inventory/ordering.

Job Summary: The Mark Twain Laboratory Manager is responsible for the direction and coordination of the personnel in Clinical Laboratory Services. The Laboroary Manager also ensure that services are of the best quality, are cost contained and are carried out in an expeditius manner. Job duties include, but not limited to:
- Plans and forecasts department budgets including calculating FTE's operating budget planning; capital planning; interpreting financial reports
from payroll & accounts payable; and interpreting productivity reports
- Mantains department staffing and scheduling including position control, planning staff schedules and attendance control procedures
- Analyzes budget variances including submitting correction action plans for budget, overtime, and productivity variances, and analyzing variances
from monthly department responsibility reports
- Identifies critical success factors for department including departmental goal development; manager goad development and customer service
models for department
- Selects and maintains competent personnel by reviewing and revising job descriptions and competencies; evaluating employees' competencies;
tracking compliance with credentialing standards and mandatory education; submitting employee provisional and annual appraisals in a timely
manner
- Knowledge about regulatory requirements including Joint Commission and CMS standards; California DHS requirements; OSHA guidelines; Sentinel Events; FMEA and root cause analysis
- Participates in performance improvement by demonstrating knowledge of the performance improvement process, critical performance initiatives;
patient satisfaction initiatives and customer concern process
- Maintains contact with attending physicians and Lab Pathologists to solicit appropriate input; identified problems are addressed in a timely manner
- Responsible for renewal and maintenance of CA (DHS) licensure; CLIA Certificate of Accreditation and Joint Commission Accreditation
- Responsible for the laboratory enrollment in an approved proficiency testing program for all tests performed in the hospital

St Joseph's Clinical Laboratory is a fast paced, innovative laboratory supporting the Medical Center's various service lines. We are a large lab with over 200 employees among our 12 internal laboratory departments. In addition to the standard Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology and Blood Bank departments, we have a Surgical and Anatomic Pathology department, a Cytogenetic laboratory, and a growing Molecular laboratory. We serve the Emergency department with a limited service STAT lab, and a Regional Perinatal laboratory that meets the needs of Perinatologists around the state of Arizona. Our Laboratory has an opportunity for a PROGRAM MANAGER of LAB QUALITY ASSURANCE AND PROCESS IMPROVEMENT to join our team! Responsible for organizing, planning and coordinating quality assurance and process improvement activities utilizing CQI principles, Lean design concepts, and application of best practices. Must ensure that all sections of the laboratory are fully compliant with CAP, CLIA, Joint Commission, and any other applicable accreditation or regulatory agency standards. The Lab Sales and Marketing Representative is responsible for the ongoing sales efforts of the Lab Outreach Program. This includes but is not limited to meeting with potential new and existing customers, ensuring that customer needs are met, providing market updates, supporting market growth initiatives, and communicating and interacting with members of the lab team as appropriate.
