Responsibilities

Position Summary

Assists the Laboratory Support Supervisor with the direction of the laboratory clerks and phlebotomists in their daily duties.  This includes but is not limited to some of the following duties/responsibilities:  all phlebotomy duties/responsibilities, ensuring immediate responses to Code Blues, Stroke Alerts, Surgery Venipunctures/Phlebotomy, timeliness for ‘Timed’ priority venipunctures, arranging for shift coverage due to unscheduled absences, ordering and distribution of supplies and maintaining the necessary supplies for operations.  Assists with the training of new phlebotomists consistent with their job description duties/responsibilities and the evaluation of competency for all phlebotomists. 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Must possess and maintain a current Phlebotomy licensed with the State of California.
  • Two years of college with emphasis on the biological sciences or two years of experience as a phlebotomist or supervisor.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Computer skills
