    Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta is a member of the Dignity Health system of health care providers and is a not-for-profit medical facility. We are designated as a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital and are accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health care Organizations. In addition to our acute care hospital we also own and operate two Rural Health Clinics providing walk-in immediate care as well as scheduled appointments for routine medical needs. We are located in the northernmost area of California and are part of a network of care, including Mercy Medical Center Redding and St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in Red Bluff.     Responsibilities

    Position Summary:

     

    Responsible for coding, abstracting, and verification of abstracted data. Gathers data for quality assessment studies. Works with business office in Redding to answer billing code questions and solve problems.

     

     

     

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • 2 years acute care coding experience
    • Graduate of accredited program in Health Information Management or have current coding certification (CCS Certification)
    • Must have good analytical skills, and the ability to work at a fast pace and maintain a high concentration level and accuracy.
    • Must display good verbal and written communication skills
    • Computer keyboarding skills
    • Works under pressure for accuracy and deadlines
    • Ability to utilize a computerized encoder/grouper
    • Type 45 words per minute
    • Ability to code accurately using ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems following recognized coding guidelines and ethical standards
    • ART or RRA and CCS
    • Member of the American Health Information Management Association
