Responsibilities

Job Summary: 

The data developer turns data into reports, interactive tools, and other analytic resources.  The data developer writes code to reproducibly transform, clean, and integrate data, and collaborates with others to land them in data marts and warehouses, as appropriate.  The data developer then uses visualization and reporting tools to deliver that data efficiently to end users.  The data developer takes ownership of the entire workflow, with an emphasis on maximizing the value, interpretability, and accessibility of the data

 

Core Duties: 

  1. Write scripts, stored procedures, and other code to transform and prepare data for scalable reporting and analysis.
  2. Creates sophisticated, interactive reports and exploration tools. Employs best practices for the visual display of information to communicate in a clear, efficient, and compelling manner.
  3. Writes automated tests and creates dashboards to monitor data quality.
  4. Works with end users to evaluate needs, improve existing resources, and ensure that reports and tools are relatable, accurate, maintainable, and scalable.
  5. Performs the above work in an agile manner, while maintaining appropriate security controls, version control, and documentation.
  6. Advises IT and business leadership on improvements to infrastructure and process.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Education - Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Business, Engineering or closely related field
  • Experience - One year of experience in data warehousing, reporting, or related activities
  • Knowledge/Skills - 
    • Comfort working with relational databases, as well as common data transport formats (e.g., JSON, XML).
    • Advanced SQL for data querying and analysis, plus basic git, required.
    • Some experience with R or Python preferred.Advanced Tableau skills.
    • Experience with PowerBI, QlikSense, and code-based visualization (e.g., ggplot, Bokeh, plotly, etc.) useful.
    • Demonstrable knowledge of visualization best practices, strong sense of visual design, passionate about user experience.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Familiarity with dbt, R, Tableau, or related tools helpful
  • Relevant experience in a healthcare environment and computer systems preferred.
