Position Summary:

Assists with planning, coordination, scheduling, and conduct of various healthcare-related educational and training programs.  Participates daily in the operations of an American Heart Association training center for the provision of Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR), and other entry-level healthcare programs; Provides direct coordination and/or instruction in various other basic level courses and programs offered by Dignity Health.  
 
Core Duties: 

• Confers with Clinical Managers, Lead Educators and the Director of Clinical Education to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training for employees to better understand changes in policies, procedures, and comply with statutes and regulations using advanced technologies
• Formulates teaching outline and determines instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, and workshops.
• Develops and/or utilizes teaching aids such as clinical care equipment, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, simulators, simulation software and other reference works
• Conducts training sessions covering specified areas including but not limited to such topics as BCLS (CPR), and other entry-level healthcare programs and other short-term (typically 2-3 days in duration) or continuing education training programs
• Also conducts refresher and re-recognition training in various disciplines
• Measures progress and to evaluate effectiveness of training programs
• Monitors progress of students during training periods
• Arranges faculty scheduling for these programs and facilitates the coordination of necessary equipment for each program conducted throughout the service area
• Maintains all necessary records associated with training programs and assures compliance with program requirements
• Maintains current knowledge of changes and updates to program content, procedures, or administrative rules
• Other instructional duties, as may be necessary from time to time, in any of the programs offered by Dignity Health for which the Instructor is qualified to instruct; assists other faculty as necessary

Minimum Qualifications:

• Excellent reading and writing experience abilities required
• Ability to comprehend and apply complex mathematical problems required; includes computing rates, ratios, percentages and ability to develop and interpret bar graphs
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required
• Current BLS certification required (must be certified through the American Heart Association)
• Instructor certifications in courses such as BLS (CPR) and other programs offered by Dignity Health required (must be obtained before providing instruction in the discipline)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree in a health-related field or Education preferred 
• One (1) year of experience as a healthcare clinician in a clinical care setting preferred
• Proficiency with software programs such as Windows and Office Suite preferred
• Current California licensure and/or certification as an entry-level healthcare provider (i.e., CAN, HHA, MA, EMT), and/or any other appropriate allied healthcare provider designation is preferred
