Prepares, seasons, and cooks soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foodstuffs for consumption in eating establishments.

The person in this position must be able to work, communicate and cooperate with others and perform the following duties with little or no supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Bakes, roasts, broils, braises and steams meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
Observes and tests foods being cooked by tasting, smelling, piercing with fork, and taking temperatures.
Properly stores and dates all reusable food.
Utilizes products and supplies within budgetary guidelines
Maintains sanitation of the work area at all times.
Washes, peels, cuts, and shreds vegetables and fruits to prepare them for use.
Measures and mixes ingredients according to recipe to prepare soups, salads, gravies, desserts, sauces, and casseroles.
Adds seasoning to foods during mixing or cooking.
Carves meats, portions food on serving plates, adds gravies and sauces, and garnishes servings to fill orders.
Reviews menus and orders produce as needed.
Maintains a clean organized walk in.
Monitors all items being served for proper temperatures and eye appeal.
Orders produce and related products from menu.
Properly turns off all equipment and locks store room, walk in and freezer at the end of the shift.
Completes other related tasks as assigned.
