    Responsibilities

    Prepares, seasons, and cooks soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foodstuffs for consumption in eating establishments. 
    This person is expected to know and support the mission and values of Dominican Oaks, and to apply the Dominican Oaks philosophy while performing daily job tasks.  The person in this position must be able to work, communicate and cooperate with others and perform the following duties with little or no supervision.
     
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Bakes, roasts, broils, braises and steams meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
    • Observes and tests foods being cooked by tasting, smelling, piercing with fork, and taking temperatures.
    • Properly stores and dates all reusable food.
    • Utilizes products and supplies within budgetary guidelines
    • Maintains sanitation of the work area at all times.
    • Washes, peels, cuts, and shreds vegetables and fruits to prepare them for use.
    • Measures and mixes ingredients according to recipe to prepare soups, salads, gravies, desserts, sauces, and casseroles.
    • Adds seasoning to foods during mixing or cooking.
    • Carves meats, portions food on serving plates, adds gravies and sauces, and garnishes servings to fill orders.
    • Reviews menus and orders produce as needed.
    • Maintains a clean organized walk in.
    • Monitors all items being served for proper temperatures and eye appeal.
    • Orders produce and related products from menu.
    • Properly turns off all equipment and locks store room, walk in and freezer at the end of the shift.
    • Completes other related tasks as assigned.
     

    Qualifications

    Experience Required:

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
    • Six months related experience and/or training
    • OR equivalent combination of education  and experience

    Special Skills Required:

    • Must have ability to read, write, speak and understand English
    • Ability to demonstrate basic math skills
    • Ability to follow instructions and demonstrate good judgement and problem solving skills

    Licensure Required:

    • Current CA Food Handler card/certification CT FOODHND
    • Current First Aid certication CT FIRSTAI
    • Current BLS certification, required within 90 days of hire AHA CT CPRBLS
