    Responsibilities

    The Coder Senior is responsible for coding inpatient records using ICD-10-CM coding classification diagnosis and procedure codes, meeting both quality and productivity standards. All accounts are evaluated, abstracted, and optimized for reimbursement in accordance with federal guidelines.  The Coder Senior select accounts for coding from electronic worklists in the computer assisted coding (CAC) program.  Coders maintain necessary credentials and continuing education to include new laws or regulations regarding coding.

    Qualifications

    Requirements:

     

    • Minimum five years experience coding inpatient charts in an acute care setting required.
    • Thorough knowledge of Medical Records Guidelines set by accrediting and licensing agencies required.
    • Computer literate, medical terminology required.
    • Microsoft Word, Outlook, MIRA and Computer Assisted Coding Software.
    • RHIT, RHIA or CCS preferred. Fire Safety card required
    • Successful completion of ICD-10 coding assessment prior to hire/transfer.
