    Position Summary:

    Under the general direction of the Imaging Director this position is responsible for coordinating all information systems activities use by Radiology department at Mark Twain Medical Center. The incumbent in this position ensures that Radiology systems, to include PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System) and the RIS (Radiology Information System) are designed and implemented efficiently and in a manner that maintains a high quality of data, image and reporting integrity. This position provides to the Imaging Departments customers application expertise, training, service and support. Additionally, the incumbent supports Radiology systems integration with financial systems including G/L, Accounts Payable and other clinical, ancillary or support applications. 


    In addition, this position will support the Cardiology PACS system, Excelera with the same expertise as the Imaging system. In this capacity they will assist the management group of Cardiology with maintenance of the system, implementing software updates and verification of acceptable performance as needed. Furthermore, they will assist the Cardiology Department in a consultative manner in recommending improvements in performance as needed. They will also develop and perform audits to assure appropriate performance of all systems involved and refer and deficiencies found to the appropriate individual in the Radiology and Cardiology management structure. The individual will act as a liaison in digital imaging initiatives within the departments as well as referring physicians.




    • Degree or certification in IT, Radiologic Technology, CVIS or related technical field(or equivalent experience) required.
    • Three (3) years of experience working with CVIS and digital systems required.
    • Knowledge of networks DICOM, HL& and computer hardware, cardiac hemodynamic and image/data management systems.
    • Working knowledge of DICOM and HL7 standards.
    • Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work in a matrix-reporting structure.
    • Firm understanding of PACS/RIS environment and application interrelationships.
    • Ability to teach and instruct non-users in an Information System/PACS environment.
    • Ability to work with and for people.
    • Application troubleshooting.
    • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
    • Ability to understand and lead workflow analyses for current state, future state and transition states.
    • Ability to coordinate the integration of PACS and RIS from different vendors.
    • Excellent customer relations skills.
    • Highly motivated and self-driven.
    • Effective written and oral communications skills.
    • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or Information Systems (or equivalent experience and education) preferred.
    • Prior experience with hardware and software implementation preferred.
    • Computer network administration and management experience preferred.
    • Working knowledge of Information Systems' operations and hospital information flow preferred.
    • Familiarity with microcomputer applications and technology preferred.
