    Dignity Health Bay Area includes four accredited, not-for-profit hospitals in the Bay Area – Saint Francis Memorial Hospital and St. Mary's Medical Center in San Francisco, Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City, and Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz.  All four hospitals are Certified Stroke Centers, offer emergency services, and have received national recognition for superior safety and quality from Healthgrades, a leading provider of comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals.  Each of our hospitals are passionate about patient care, committed to community outreach, advocates for the underserved, and dedicated to delivering quality, affordable health services to those in need. 

    Responsibilities

    Position Summary

    The Vice President of Human Resources will provide leadership within the full range of strategic and operational Human Resource activities.  This role will require thoughtful integration with the Bay Area Service Area leadership.  The Vice President of Human Resources will be responsible for implementation of the Dignity Health Human Resources delivery model which aligns the HR structure, processes and systems with Dignity Health System HR, Bay Area Service Area strategies, goals, and business priorities.  


    The Vice President will collaborate Bay Area leaders to ensure Service Area goals are achieved, steward talent at all levels of the organization, improve business performance, support the management of human capital, and interpret impact on operational results.  The incumbent continuously refines the role of Human Resources within the Service Area to ensure that Human Resources operates with its business partners as a dynamic and fully integrated service line.

     
    Principal Duties and Accountabilities:

    • Collaborates with Service Area Financial and Operational leaders to drive effective management of human capital costs resulting in a positive ROI. Accelerate the development of Human Resources culture, talent, structure, systems and processes.
    • Advises management and ensures compliance with laws and regulations pertaining to human resources. Develops processes and programs that ensure readiness and compliance in a highly regulated healthcare environment.
    • Develops, implements and oversees education/training programs and vehicles that support strategic objectives and address operational and regulatory requirements. Conducts needs analysis, perform research, design related staff or management training and organizational development programs and ensures consistency of messages.
    • Develops long-term relationships with organizations, educational institutions and individuals that will enhance the talent pipeline flow toward the healthcare profession in general, and the Service Area in particular.

    Qualifications

    Experience

    • Master's degree or a combination of education and/or additional job related experience in lieu of the degree.
    • Minimum of ten (10) years leading and executing progressive business, workforce and operational strategies; Five (5) years experience in all aspects of the planning, design, management and administration of Human Resources policies, programs and practices within a complex, multi-site organization.
