    The Clinical Analysis program provides an organized and systematic approach to the review of clinical products, technologies, equipment, and services in order to promote the delivery of outcome-based, high quality care in the most cost-effective manner. The Clinical Analysis Manager (CAM) manages the process for clinical supply standardization including clinical analysis activities by partnering with cross-functional Clinical Analysis Teams (CATs) and other key stakeholders to ensure the effective evaluation of standardization initiatives.  Directs the identification, and support implementation and monitoring of performance for all clinical analysis supply initiatives supporting quality patient care, process improvement, and cost savings. Responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of clinical analysis programs and in collaboration with the Vice President, Clinical Supply Optimization (VP, CSO)  develops the strategic approach for each CAT initiative.



    Manage Clinical Analysis Program

    1. Establish a vision of guiding principles, set direction and goals for the Clinical Analysis Teams (CATs) and provides leadership and strategic expertise to each Clinical Analysis Team.
    2. Develop and execute strategies to deliver significant and sustainable reductions in quality cost outcomes. Each CAT reviews the use of high volume and high cost products and recommends opportunities for avoidance of unnecessary variation or the creation of appropriate use criteria to improve clinical and business outcomes.
    3. Create ad hoc work groups to address specific product categories. Develop strategy and implementation plans for each initiative. Accountable for established goals and targets.
    4. Manage and support processes across the entire clinical analysis program: with multiple Clinical Analysis Teams across specialties (such as general surgery, joints, trauma, etc.) and broad spectrum of stakeholders in each team (e.g., clinicians, executives, data analysts, etc.).
    5. Prepare the stakeholders for effective meetings through timely presentation of fact-base, clear agendas, and a thorough action item list. As part of crafting the fact-base, the CAM must work closely with the Supply and Service Resource Management (SSRM) team and aggregate feedback from the Clinical Engagement RNs (CERNs).
    6. Prep each committee chair before the sub-committee meetings occur. Also, prep the chair for steering committee on the activities seeking senior leadership approval on initiatives approved at each clinical analysis sub-committee.
    7. Proactively identify barriers to implementing recommendations from the Clinical Analysis Teams and craft resolutions in conjunction with the Steering Committee and the Clinical Analysis Teams
    8. Along with the VP of Clinical Supply Optimization (CSO), support the ongoing evaluation of clinical supply initiatives by the Clinical Analysis Teams. In conjunction with the VP of CSO, craft documents for Steering Committee meetings and seek approval based on the decisions from the Clinical Analysis Team meetings.
    9. Build enthusiasm amongst colleagues. Build enterprise wide clinician leadership to support supply chain decision making. Instill clinical accountability, monitor results and provide metrics.
    10. Escalate concerns to remove barriers on initiatives that are taking longer than expected to make a decision.


    Integration with SSRM

    1. Work closely with Dignity Health’s Supply and Service Resource Management (SSRM) to ensure a seamless process from initiative development to contract implementation and follow-up.
    2. Vet the data obtained from SSRM, and in conjunction with the VP of CSO, be responsible to prepare and present the fact-base for the Clinical Analysis Teams to vet.


    Perfomance Management

    1. Work with the SSRM representatives, and other key stakeholders, to create dashboards and compliance tools to understand physician specific cost and outcomes data.
    2. Develop new system and facility-based initiatives and, partner with hospital/physician leaders and Clinical Engagement RNs, to involve physicians in efforts to reduce unnecessary variations in supply utilization by providing visibility into their own data and that of their peers.



    1. Play a key role in crafting the communication to highlight the adoption of certain initiatives approved in a specialty, and for broader communication detailing the accomplishments of the program to relevant stakeholders
    2. Create transparency among executives, clinical stakeholders and supply chain with ongoing communication.



    • The Clinical Analysis Manager will report to the VP of Patient Care Services
    • The Clinical Analysis Manager will have a dotted line relationship to the VP of CSO



    • BA/BS required, Master’s degree in healthcare related field (e.g. MBA, MHA) preferred or equivalent years of related healthcare experience.
    • Previous experience with healthcare supply chain process and strategy, highly preferred



    • Demonstrated leadership skills; highly collaborative individual with excellent organizational, analytical, managerial/project management skills
    • Record of successfully driving outcomes in a timely and thorough manner
    • Ability to compellingly present data and/or information to a variety of audiences
    • Ability to engage cross-functional teams in product analysis, consensus decision-making, and implementation efforts
    • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively at all levels across the organization and within individual hospital and health care delivery systems
    • Ability to manage meetings, in any environment with a variety of audiences (i.e. executive, physician, nursing, and hospital leadership)
    • Experience evaluating clinical evidence and data
    • Superb written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to promote open dialogue
    • Computer literate and working proficiency with Microsoft WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT
    • An understanding of the physician perspective on clinician practice items and utilization initiatives, preferred.
