    Position Summary:

    Provides laboratory testing to inpatients and outpatients, quality control, and instrument maintenance and related record keeping and result reporting. May be assigned to or rotate to various areas such as: Microbiology, Chemistry/Special Chemistry, Transfusion Services, Coagulation, Hematology, Urinalysis and Immunology. Patients served are neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adults, and geriatric age groups.





    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Education level necessary to obtain required licensure and certifications:
      • A doctor of medicine, osteopathy, or doctor of podiatric medicine licensed to practice osteopathy, podiatry, in the state in which the laboratory is located, or have earned a doctoral, masters, or bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution; or
      • An associate degree in a chemical, physical, or biological I science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution; or
      • High school diploma or equivalent and have successfully completed an official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks duration, and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Medical Technician); or
      • High school diplomas or equivalent, and have such documentation of training appropriate for the testing performed prior to analyzing patient specimens.  Such training must ensure that the individual has the skills required for the proper specimen collection, including patient preparation, if applicable, labeling handling, preservation or fixation, processing or preparation, transportation and storage of specimens, etc.
    • Must possess and maintain a current Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license with the state of California.
    • Computer literate
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • One (1) year experience in an acute care facility.
