    We have an exciting and unique opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to work on the Barrow Emergency Stroke Treatment Unit (BESTU).  The RN will be responding to emergency calls. This position will work in the field on our state-of-the-art mobile stroke unit as part of an experienced and highly skilled Stroke Team.  This position requires working under emergency conditions, driving the mobile stroke unit and other duties exclusive to this position. 



    Graduate of an accredited school of nursing 
    Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
    Basic Computer Skills 
    AZ RN license or RN License from a Compact State. 
    BLS (American Heart Association)
    ACLS (American Heart Association)
    • Work environment includes pre-hospital care setting and various weather situations
    • Work requires nights, holidays, weekends and public relations visits and presentations
    • Must be able to assist in the safe movement of the patient on a stretcher, loading into ambulance and must be physically able to move and about and work effectively in the confines of the MSU. 
    • Must complete Phoenix Fire Department Driver’s Training Course prior to completion of orientation
    • Acts as an educator to professional groups and EMS
    • Assists in collecting stroke data, participates in ongoing quality improvement process
    • Function independently when necessary
    • Must have the ability to collaborate effectively with EMS, telemedicine physician and/or neuroendovascular specialist
    • Demonstrate accurate clinical neuro assessment skills and maintains a current working knowledge of stroke care
    • Maintain IV tPA therapy protocols
    • Performs point-of-care testing
