Reports directly to the Service Area CFO with a dotted line to the Corporate Operations Assistance Group (OAG) and the Hospital CFOs'.
Leads in the designing, implementing, planning and tracking of all activities in relation to the roles, functions and operations of the healthcare productivity information systems.
Assists Leaders in setting annual goals and managers in process improvement to achieve specified goals.
This position is responsible for identifying needed improvements on a significant level in operating efficiencies and labor cost reductions.
The project work, consultation, management training and management reporting are aimed at improving the efficiency, cost effectiveness and quality of operations.
The principal focus is on labor cost management.
This position will work closely with Performance Excellence (Lean) to assist with work redesign.
The position should have a broad grasp of management engineering principles (Organizational management, productivity measurement, staffing standards development, work simplification, management statistics, research methodology, scheduling and simulation, management information systems and a system approach to problem solving) and their application to a complex, growing multi-hospital system.
The position is expected to be the resident expert in healthcare productivity management and must stay abreast of changes in the field through continuing education and networking.
Knowledge of Benchmarking systems, TQM tools, and RMS standards setting methodologies are required.
Outstanding problem solving skills are required.
The position should have line management experience, being knowledgeable of personnel management techniques, and having managed multiple conflicting projects toward successful conclusion within constricted time frames.
The position should have teaching/mentoring experience in productivity measurement, monitoring and improvement to assist department managers in meeting or exceeding their goals.
The position should be knowledgeable of budget development, management reporting, cost accounting application and financial management in a healthcare environment.
Minimum two years’ experience in related Business, Finance, Management Engineering or Healthcare field required.
Bachelor's degree required or a combination of education and/or additional job related experience may be substituted in lieu of the degree.
Intermediate/Advanced Excel skills; Team building and conflict resolution skills.
Excellent analytical abilities and a working knowledge of productivity, accounting, healthcare finance.
Five years’ experience in informatics, operations, finance and project managements preferred.
Experience with productivity related systems and applications preferred.
Lean experience desired.
Two years supervisory experience preferred.
Master’s Degree strongly preferred.
