Dignity Health Mercy General Hospital has been serving the Sacramento community for more than 100 years. Founded by the Sisters of Mercy, Mercy General has been at its current site in the heart of East Sacramento since 1925. Mercy General Hospital has 342 licensed beds, a physician staff of more than 800 and is the highest volume cardiac procedure hospital in California. Mercy General is one of six Sacramento area hospitals that are part of Dignity Health, a system of 39 hospitals and medical centers in California, Arizona and Nevada.
This position requires candidates to have knowledge of: Anatomy and physiology (to include cross sectional when required); Medical terminology relating to nuclear medicine; Principles of operation and care of nuclear medicine equipment; Currently accepted diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures; Radiation safety requirements and practices for the operator, patient and public; Film processing systems; Mechanical and electrical safety practices and requirements in the patient examination environment.
Candidates must also have the ability to: Perform general and specialized nuclear medicine procedures, which meet the department's standard of quality; Recognize and respond to allergic reactions and other life-threatening patient conditions which might arise during the examination process; Effectively and empathetically deal with agitated, ill and uncomfortable patients; Act courteously and with tact in dealing with patients, visitors and the public; Maintain patient confidentiality; Remain calm and be reassuring to distressed patients; Develop and maintain a cooperative working relationship with physicians and hospital personnel; Work effectively under stress and adjust priorities as circumstances require; Organize work assignments, maintaining accurate and complete records; Maintain a high degree of accuracy regarding all details; Work independently on-call covering all normal clerical and technical functions; Assist co-workers and maintain constructive interpersonal relationships; Participate in continuing nuclear medicine.
Demonstrates competency for neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients. Performs diagnostic procedures in the field of nuclear medicine as assigned by a physician and administrative tasks.
Candidates must have a CA NMT Certification.
