Responsibilities

Position Summary:

 

Candidate will own the Release Management life-cycle which includes scheduling, coordinating and the management of releases of mobile and web based technology across the Office of Digital (OOD). 

 

The releases can be inclusive of product application updates, operating system patches, security improvements, and/or hardware upgrades for our mobile and web based portfolio of products. Where possible the incumbent will provide tools and services to help product management and SCRUM teams manage and deploy releases into production. The incumbent will be responsible for implementing and managing release processes for the progression of code in the development, test, and production environments. Our portfolio of products includes mobile applications and web based technologies. 

 

The incumbent works collaboratively with all participants in software development projects and is supportive of developers and testers as they set up their build dev/test environments. This position also works with IT management to improve the software engineering processes and practices associated with continuously building, deploying, and updating software and environments.

 

Core Duties:

  • Maintains the release schedule for all digital products and ensures alignment across key partners and vendors
  • Leads and coordinates the Go-Live activities including the execution of the deployment plans and checklists
  • Communicates release details and schedules to the OOD Leadership and development partners
  • Coordinates with Release Engineers to maintain a release repository and manage key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies and notification lists
  • Develops and communicates the Office of Digital Release Management processes
  • Conducts Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews and Business Go/No-Go reviews
  • Produces Deployment, Run Books and Implementation plans
  • Continually works toward making improvements in the release process
  • Manage relationships and coordinates work between different teams at different locations
  • Manages risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality
  • Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered according to the release calendar
  • Negotiates, plans and manages all release activities
  • Participates in Change Management meetings to discuss release scope and/or roadblocks
  • Weekly Release reporting
  • Works with Release Engineers to understand impacts of branches and code merges

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 8 years of experience in information systems operations environment in systems analysis or development which includes 3 years of previous enterprise digital web and mobile app release management and project management experience
  • Requires:
    • Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle
    • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion
    • Demonstrated effective leadership skills
    • Demonstrated analytical skills
    • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to demonstrate PC knowledge including Microsoft Office applications
    • Demonstrate an advance knowledge of Microsoft Excel
    • Demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Access
    • Business acumen 

Preferred Skills

  • Formal training in project management practices
  • Experience with VSTS and Agile methodologies in a SaaS environment
  • Solid understanding of project management principles preferred
