The Hospital President is responsible for articulating the Dignity Health mission and strategic direction and for leading efforts to achieve compassionate, high quality, cost effective health care delivery by upholding the organization’s mission and values and by using them to guide decision-making.  

 
Position Summary:
 

The position serves as the President, Dignity Health Medical Foundation located in the Greater Sacramento area and reporting to the SVP, Physician Integration. Dignity Health Medical Foundation, established in 1993, is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation with care centers throughout California.  Dignity Health Medical Foundation is an affiliate of Dignity Health – one of the largest health systems in the nation - with hospitals and care centers in California, Arizona and Nevada. Today, Dignity Health Medical Foundation works hand-in-hand with physicians and providers throughout California to provide comprehensive health care services to the many communities we serve. As Dignity Health Medical Foundation continues to grow and establish new premier care centers, we provide increasing support and investment in the latest technologies, finest physicians and state-of-the-art medical facilities. We strive to create purposeful work settings where staff can provide great care, while advancing in knowledge and experience through challenging work assignments and stimulating relationships. The President ensures that the strategic direction and operations of the Medical Foundation are sound and congruent with the system’s mission, vision, and values. Develops and implements initiatives that are aligned with Dignity Health’s broader physician integration strategy. Creates a sustainable vision and business model for the long-term development and operation of the Dignity Health Medical Foundation, including systems, metrics,  and dashboards to enhance quality, productivity, utilization, outcomes management, and cost management.

  
 
Principal Duties and Accountabilities:
 

Duties may include:

  • Develops engagement strategies for physicians with the goal of building cohesion around a common clinical vision, aligning strategic and economic incentives, and advancing quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
  • Leads a transformation to a more results-oriented culture, ensuring that  standardized practices and a common set of metrics are extended across groups and regions, with sensitivity to the nuances necessary to ensure that unique market needs are met.
  • Recruits, assimilates, and retains premier culturally-aligned physicians to achieve Dignity Health’s strategic initiatives and growth plans and to ensure that Dignity Health’s unique presence in each of its markets meets the needs of that market by  attracting and retaining patients and physicians within the Dignity Health network and prevent patient out-migration for either primary or specialty care.
  • Monitoring and enhancing physician productivity and clinical performance to national benchmarks. Assessing physician compensation and benefit plans and updating them as appropriate to ensure these plans remain market competitive and fully aligned with future fee-for-value strategies.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: 

 
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a related field.   Minimum of five (5) years of direct management experience. Demonstrated outcome-oriented experience accompanied by experience in a large multi-specialty medical group practice in a primary or secondary administrative capacity. Experience in a mature managed care market in which medical groups have taken on global risk for professional and institutional costs and have managed to a PMPM.
  • A Medical Degree accompanied by a clinical and administrative background and/or Master's degree in public health, business administration, medical management,  (or an equivalent combination of education and/or additional job-related experience) is preferred.
