Lab Assistant

Job Summary:

Performs blood collection. Performs specimen processing. Assists in clerical duties.

Job Standards:

• Performs venous and capillary punctures on all age groups of inpatient/outpatient populations and follows written technical and blood back procedures
• Maintains phlebotomy turn-around-time standards
• Meets customer service standards following AIDET guidelines
• Ensures that specimen requirements are met at the time of collection and maintains specimen integrity
• Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings and workshops. Attends a minimum of 5 hours per year

Minimum:

Experience: Two (2) years of experience in a clinical lab

Education: HS Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Licensure: AHA BLS

Special Skills: Excellent communication

Training: Phlebotomy training certification
