In keeping with the Dignity Health core values, the Medical Transcriptions is responsible for coordination of all department dictation and transcription services and their timely preparation. Interfaces with the hospital information system to integrate transcribed reports into the patient's electronic chart. Prepares final hard copy of transcribed report and distributes copies as required.

This position is represented by SEIU - UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Minimum Requirements:

• Five (5) years prior diagnostic imaging medical transcription experience.
• Must also have the ability to work tactfully and effectively with fellow staff members, physicians and the patient population.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Excellent typing/transcription skills at a level of 60 WPM using and IBM compatible computer with a variety of software applications.
• Thorough knowledge of correct English usage, grammar, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, has initiative and is self motivated.
• Ability to work on several projects at the same time with constant interruption.
• Demonstrates leadership skills.

Preferred:

• Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.
• College level courses in transcription and medical terminology or equivalent experience preferred.
