Position Summary:

In keeping with the Marian Regional Medical Center healthcare philosophy, the Medical Social Worker is responsible for providing direct hospice services to patients and families on the hospice program and for collaboration with appropriate healthcare workers and community agencies. As an employee of Marian Regional Medical Center, adherence to the mission and philosophy of the organization and to the ethical and religious directives for Catholic Health Care facilities will be expected.



  • Demonstrates clinical experience in a hospice or home health setting or similar healthcare setting with references verifying the ability to function with a high degree of independence and clinical competence.
  • One year social work experience in a healthcare setting. Hospice and Palliative Care
  • A willingness to comply with the mission and philosophy of Dignity Healthcare and the ethical and religious directives for Catholic Health Care facilities.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of principles, standard practices, and procedures utilized in clinical medical social work
  • Self-motivated and able to achieve results through good organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently and be a functional team member in a multidisciplinary clinical environment.
  • Works comfortably with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Avility to assume an active role on patient-care teams and to be an advocate for quality patient care. computer skills
  • Current CPR certification California driver?s license and proof of liability insurance for automobile being used.
