Job Summary


The Manager, Employee Health Services (EHS) supports and improves the health, wellbeing, and safety of our 6,000+ employees, contractors, volunteers and students at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Medical Center. The Manager, EHS works closely with Human Resources and hospital leaders to support the mission, vision and values of the organization. You should be a progressive thinker with excellent communication and analytic skills and have the ability to build strong relationships. 


Job Duties

  • Manage EHS team and ensure adequate staffing levels, inclusive of hiring/onboarding, evaluating, managing performance, coaching and developing employees, ensuring employee productivity, quality of work, and alignment with our mission, vision, and values.
  • Analyze work efficiencies, workflows, access to care, and employee/patient satisfaction to improve processes, drive improved metrics, and standardize best employee health practices.
  • Manage workplace safety program including safe patient handling, lifting, ergonomic assessments, PPE fit testing, etc.
  • Accountable for performance of all employee health operations, including cost, quality and patient experience results.
  • Ensure compliance with all EHS policies and recommend, develop, and implement improvements in policies and procedures.
  • Oversee onboarding functions (pre-employment health assessments including urine drug screening, serology testing and vaccine administration).
  • Ensure appropriate care for employees injured in the workplace or with work-associated illnesses.
  • Provide case management for work-related injuries, workers compensation, and return to work clearances.
  • Manage the evaluation and treatment of blood/body fluid work exposures.
  • Review and make recommendations on medical documentation regarding transitional duty/disability and requests for occupational accommodations.
  • Assure accuracy of data and reporting to meet regulatory requirements for OSHA, AZDPH, JCAHO, etc.
  • Maintain a solid working knowledge of relevant laws, regulations and policies including OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standards, Tuberculosis Risk Prevention in Healthcare Facilities, etc.




  • 3 years in related field
  • 2 years supervisory experience
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Registered Nurse
  • Bachelor's or combination of education and/or additional job related experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree required.


Preferred Qualifications


  • BLS Certification
  • Previous Employee Health or Occupational Health experience.
  • Proficiency using MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Prior experience using Cerner.
