Groundbreaking cardiac procedures at Dominican include the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure, which allows for heart valve replacement without opening a patient’s chest.

Dominican Hospital has forged significant partnerships with area hospitals to bring exceptional care to Santa Cruz County. The hospital offers a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) through a partnership with Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford. Neurosurgery at Dominican is also offered through a partnership with Stanford Health Care.

STAFF NURSE II performs the nursing process through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of therapeutic care for patients with overt and covert needs in supervised situations, for the adolescent, adult and geriatric patient population. Performs the nursing process for patients in more complex situations with assistance and supervision.  Assists with managing the patient care administered by other member of the nursing staff.  Assumes the responsibilities of Primary Nurse and Team Leader.
  • Current and active CA RN license.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Unit specific certifications and qualifications.
  • NRP within eight (8) months of hire
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring Test through National Certification Corporation (NCC), OR
  • Intermediate Fetal Monitoring class and test through Association of Women's health Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN)
  • RNC-OB, through National Certification Corporation (NCC) - Inpatient Obstetrics Test for Certification
Position Summary: (Unit Specific)
The Labor & Delivery RN renders professional nursing care to antenatal, obstetrical, postpartum and postsurgical patients and mother-baby couplets, in support of medical care as directed by physicians, and in accordance with established hospital customer relations credo, policies and procedures.  The RN is responsible for maintaining and continually improving the specific skill set required to perform the duties of an RN within the Maternal Child Health (MCH) areas. The RN is responsible for developing and achieving personal annual performance improvement objectives in conjunction with the service line manager.
Position Responsibilities:  The RN is responsible for supporting efforts to improve clinical and service excellence of patient care provided. RN s must be able to identify and apply care skills appropriate to the specific patient age groups served.  The RN will participate in the achievement of service targets and process goals. 



6 months of recent L&D hospital experience Proficient in English. Verbal and written communication skills, and computer skills required.

  • Current and active CA RN license
  • Current BLS certification
  • Current NRP certification
  • Advanced fetal monitoring within 8 months of hire
  • NCC C-EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) within 1 year of hire. Renewable every 3 years according to certification license.
