Responsibilities

Job Summary:

 

Assists in the care and treatment of patients under the direction of a Physician or a Registered Nurse. 

 

Duties include but is not limited to the following:

  • Performs phlebotomy (under HCCL guidance). 
  • Performs specific clerical duties, coordinates departmental communications and provides support to the patient care team. 
  • Responsible for taking payments and balance of Cash drawer on a daily basis. Duties include handling credit card payments according to Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI-DSS). In addition to the normal background check, a credit check screening will be completed in compliance with Dignity Health policy. 
  • Demonstrates the skills and knowledge to support the accurate data collection and documentation of financial and demographic information.
  • Participates as a Team Member, communicating respect for the patient, family, clients and other members of the Care Team.
  • Maintains the patient medical record, departmental records and maintains department supplies and equipment.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a related field
  • California State Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) license
  • BLS Card through American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Completion of a Certified Medical Assistant, EMT, or similar course within the last 10 years
  • Medical assistant training/experience
  • Medical Terminology course

Preferred:

  • Medical assistant certification
