Responsibilities

In keeping with Dignity Health core values, the Clinical Specialist-Speech is responsible for administering diagnostic and treatment programs designed to comprehensively evaluate and treat injured and disabled patients to restore maximum communicative function.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Requires  a current California State license in Speech Pathology
  • CPR certification
  • Minimum of five (5) years clinical experience with evidence of extensive training in a given specialty area; specialty areas may include but not be limited to: neuro-rehabilitation, brain injury, pediatrics and swallowing
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work tactfully and effectively with fellow staff members, physicians, hospital departments and the general public.

Preferred Skills & Knowledge:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of teaching and leadership skills including a proficiency for conceptual thinking, motivating, teaching principles and problem solving.
  • Demonstrates advanced working knowledge of the principles, standard practices, procedures and equipment utilized in the department.
  • Ability and willingness to actively participate in departmental and hospital programs.
  • Demonstrates self-motivation and ability to achieve results through good organizational skills and prioritization of work.
  • Knowledge and understanding of pertinent standards and regulations including DHS and The Joint Commission.
  • Ability to gather, comprehend and interpret data for Quality Improvement activities.
  • Ability to work independently and be a functional team member in a team oriented environment.
  • Ability to be mentor/coach student interns or oversee their clinical experience.
  • Ability to be flexible with caseload within any given day, as needed for the benefit of the department.
  • Promotes S.T. services in the community as appropriate.
