Located in the Phoenix, Ariz., suburb of Chandler, the Chandler Regional Medical Center is a 338-bed, not-for-profit hospital with more than 2,500 employees and almost 1,000 doctors on staff representing all major specialties.  Chandler Regional joined the Dignity Health system in 1999, but has been part of the community for more than 50 years.  The hospital includes a Level I Trauma Center, a Heart and Vascular Center, a Wound Healing Center, a Family Birth Center and many additional services. Responsibilities

Position Summary:

 

At Dignity Health Chandler Regional Medical Center, we deliver humankindness through a wide range of health, social and support services in the heart of Chandler, Arizona.  As part of our team, you will provide clinical expertise, support and oversight that helps ensure our Surgery patients receive exceptional care.  As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to champion the change by joining in our mission of healing through humankindness.

 

The Open Heart Surgery (CVOR) unit, opened in 2003, is part of the Cardio-Vascular Service Line at Chandler Regional Medical Center, which is in line with the Mission, Vision and Values of Dignity Health. We offer full line of service on adult clients, except heart and lung transplant.

 

The CVOR surgeries include thoracic and vascular cases and are performed electively and emergently. With 2 dedicated open heart rooms and the option of a third room, the program has shown steady increase in its volume with plans to continually increase the volume.

 

Since CY '2007, the program averages over 300 open heart cases and around 350 cases yearly for Thoracic and Vascular combined.  We are staffed with 3 team members per case including an RN, a Scrub Tech and a CV Monitoring Tech trained to second circulate in the room and is also highly competent in starting A-lines and IV'S, managing the balloon pump and blood gas, and assisting anesthesiologist on line placements. The team is very flexible and hardworking. All are willing to stagger work hours depending on time of case. We cover the hospital 24/7 with one CVOR call team.

 

This position is critical to the success of Chandler Regional Medical Center and requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Dignity Health.

Qualifications

Minimum:

 

  • One year open heart surgery experience.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Basic Computer Skills including MS Office Suites.
  • Strong cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, intra-aortic balloon pump skills.
  • Current AZ State RN License in good standing.
  • Current BLS card.
  • ACLS card within 6 months of hire.
