Responsibilities

Position Summary:

 

This position is responsible for providing analytical and operational support for Dignity Health Medical Foundation. The position requires a high degree of expertise in data analysis, including the design of queries and reporting solutions from various clinical, financial and operational databases. Reporting to the Director of Business Intelligence, this position is responsible for ensuring accurate, reliable data for decision making, and works closely with Physician Enterprise and other departments to create effective, innovative Enterprise Reporting solutions using modern tools and technologies, such as SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, PowerBI, Tableau, SharePoint and more.

 

In addition, the role requires the ability to develop ad-hoc reports to meet the needs of interdepartmental requests, including interpretation of requirements and developing appropriate methods to extract, present and analyze data. In order to fulfill this responsibility, the incumbent must develop technical and analytical approaches which are appropriate to various analyses. This includes the collection of data requirements, manipulation of data and design of an appropriate presentation layer. The position requires the application of creativity and technical knowledge in analysis and problem solving.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A four-year university or college degree is required; significant relevant experience could be considered in lieu of degree
  • Superior proficiency with data extraction and file manipulation using a variety of data sources
  • Skilled in Microsoft SQL Server/Reporting Services, PowerBI, Tableau, Microsoft Access, Excel and/or comparable toolsets
  • Strong skills in SQL - Ability to write complex, efficient queries against large, disparate data sources
  • Comfortable with use of temporary tables, cross server joins and creation of Stored Procedures, Views, User Defined Functions, etc
  • Strong Enterprise Reporting Skills - Skilled in SSRS and Access Development Working knowledge of SSIS development, including the ability to create, deploy and maintain IS packages Experience creating OLAP cubes with SSAS or similar  tools preferable
  • Experience using SharePoint functionality desired
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel - Good use of formatting, formulas, Pivot Tables, macros and Charts
  • Ability to prioritize workload appropriately
  • Ability to work successfully in a matrix environment, working with staff in various business areas to accomplish required tasks and come to consensus. This includes being a self-starter, being able to self-teach, and significant amounts of research and testing involved in understanding the technologies
  • Ability to understand business problems, assess relevant variables that impact the issue, recognize relevant patterns in data, and provide solutions and information related to the business requirements
  • Demonstrates superior and insightful analytical aptitude; immediately recognizes aberrations in complex data sets based on appropriate reference sources and can establish root causes
  • Elaborates on findings for customers, and provides relevant insights, alternatives, and suggestions
  • Analytics reflect the ability to put oneself in the customer's shoes to interpret appropriate next steps and/or decisions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the health care industry or a financial background is desirable
  • Knowledge of IDX software platform is desirable, but not mandatory
