Overview

Dignity Health Mercy General Hospital has been serving the Sacramento community for more than 100 years. Founded by the Sisters of Mercy, Mercy General has been at its current site in the heart of East Sacramento since 1925. Mercy General Hospital has 342 licensed beds, a physician staff of more than 800 and is the highest volume cardiac procedure hospital in California. Mercy General is one of six Sacramento area hospitals that are part of Dignity Health, a system of 39 hospitals and medical centers in California, Arizona and Nevada. In FY 2016, Mercy General Hospital provided $36,095 in unsponsored care and programs for the benefit of our community.

 

Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Cardiopulmonary/Neurodiagnostic Department Director for Mercy General Hospital, the incumbent coordinates the Neurodiagnostic department's functions. This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining Policy and Procedure Manual for the Neurodiagnostic Services (NDS) assessing competency of the staff, all quality assurance activities and meeting budget and productivity targets. This is a working coordinator position. The candidate must be proficient in EEG and evoked potential testing of the neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric patient.

 

Qualifications

This position requires an Associate of Science Degree from an accredited College with a major in neurodiagnostics, biomedical technology or general science and at least 3 years (5 years preferred) as a Neurodiagnostic Technician or a combination of education and experience which provides for the knowledge, skills and abilities of the job.  

 

Knowledge of: all aspects of neurological testing; EEG and evoked potential procedure techniques; CQI techniques and principles; motivation and morale principles; the philosophy of the Sisters of Mercy; computers and databases. 

 

Ability to: communicate effectively with physicians, patients, nursing staff, department heads and administrative personnel; track preventative maintenance needs of all departmental equipment; organize work and adjust priorities accordingly. 

 

Candidates must have a current registration as a Neurodiagnostic Technologist.
