Responsibilities

The Speech Pathologist provides speech therapy services to adults and geriatric patients including evaluations, planning treatment programs and goals, rendering patient treatments and discharge planning according to the practice and standards of the American Speech and Hearing Association & California Board of Speech Pathology .  

Qualifications

Newly licensed, (see below for licensure). During the externship, experience with adults and geriatric patients with dysphasia preferred. Experience with Modified Barium Swallow studies preferred. Annual and department specific training. Possess a current speech pathology license by the State of California Board of Medical Quality Assurance (or in the case of a CFY, be in the process of licensing). Hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (or in the case of a CFY, be in the process of obtaining certification). or Must hold ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence and current valid license in Speech Pathology and/or Audiology. (LIC SLP) Current Basic Life Support for healthcare providers (CT CPRBLS)
